Section 328 of the IPC states that

Intentionally causing harm by the use of poison or other methods with the purpose of committing an offense: Whoever, with the intent to cause harm to another person, or with the intent to commit or facilitate the commission of a crime, or knowing it is likely that he will thereby cause harm, administers to or causes to be taken by another person any poison or any stupefying, intoxicating, or unwholesome drug, or other thing, shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to ten years, and shall also be liable to a fine.
