Indian Penal Code Section 247:
Using fraud or deceit to reduce the weight or alter the composition of Indian coins. Whoever fraudulently or dishonestly performs an operation that reduces the weight or alters the composition of 1[any Indian coin] shall be punished with imprisonment of either kind for a term that may not exceed seven years, and shall also be subject to a fine.
