Indian Penal Code Section 429:

Causing mischief by murdering or maiming livestock, etc. of any value or any animal valued at fifty rupees—Whoever commits a misdemeanor by killing, poisoning, maiming, or rendering useless any elephant, camel, horse, mule, buffalo, bull, cow, or ox, regardless of its value, or any other animal valued at fifty rupees or more, shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term that may not exceed five years, a fine, or both.
