Indian Penal Code Section 431:
Damage to a public road, bridge, river, or channel —Whoever commits a misdemeanor by committing any act which renders or which he knows is likely to render any public road, bridge, navigable river or navigable channel, natural or artificial, impassable or less safe for travel or conveyance of property, shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term that may not exceed five years, a fine, or both.
