SECTION 404 IPC : Theft of goods that the deceased had in their possession when they passed away.—Anyone who willfully misappropriates or converts to their own use property that was in the possession of a deceased person at the time of that person’s death and has not since been in the possession of any person legally entitled to such possession shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term that may extend to three years, as well as being liable to a fine; and if the offender at the time of such person’s decease was employed by that person, the offender shall also be liable to Illustration With money and things in his grasp, Z passes away.
