SECTION 87 IPC : Act carried out with approval that was neither planned nor recognized to be particularly dangerous.—Nothing that is not intended to cause death or great harm, and nothing that is not known by the doer to be likely to cause death or great harm, is a crime because it could cause harm to anyone over the age of eighteen who has given their express or implied consent to suffer that harm, or because it could cause harm to any such person who has given their express or implied consent.

Illustration A and Z decide to fence against one another for entertainment. This agreement means that each party is willing to accept any harm that may result from the course of the fencing that is unintentionally produced; hence, if A injures Z while playing honestly, A is not violating the agreement.
