The instance in which such a privilege extends to causing harm other than death is dealt with in section 101 of the Indian penal code.The right to private bodily defense does not apply if the offense does not fall under any of the categories listed in the last preceding section, but it does apply, subject to the restrictions mentioned in section 99, if the aggressor is intentionally caused to suffer any harm other than death.
