SECTION 409 IPC : Criminal breach of trust by a public official, lender, businessperson, or agent.—Anyone who violates a criminal trust involving property while in a position of authority over that property, such as in their capacity as a public servant or while conducting their business as a banker, merchant, factor, broker, attorney, or agent, faces a sentence of 1 [life imprisonment] or a term of imprisonment of either description that may last up to ten years, as well as a fine.
